Distinguished Service Award

This Distinguished Service Award recognizes a world language educator who, throughout her/his career, has demonstrated (1) professional growth; (2) extensive involvement in IWLA and in other professional organizations, such as AATSP, AATF, AATG, and ACTFL; (3) leadership within her/his school and school district and beyond, and (4) excellence in teaching. You may not nominate yourself.

The Distinguished Service Award is intended to recognize a member of IWLA whose entire career has reflected the best in world language teaching and in service to the organization.

Recipients are selected on these criteria alone.  No consideration is given to the candidate’s language specialization.

Procedure:  Colleagues may nominate candidates by filling out the online nomination form linked below.  Note that nominators will have to write a brief statement of nomination, outlining why the nominee merits receiving the award.  Upon receipt of this nomination, the IWLA Awards Committee will notify all candidates, who must then submit a resumé/CV, a short statement, and three letters of support.  The nominator may write one of these letters of support as an expansion of their statement of nomination.
