This service is intended to help Iowa schools and teachers advertise and to find positions at any level (elementary, middle school, secondary, or post-secondary) in the state of Iowa.     Simpson College invites applications for a full-time visiting position in Spanish and Latin American Studies beginning August 2021. We seek a collaborative colleague who is committed to outstanding teaching in a creative, culture-focused program. Teaching load: 24 credit hours (typically 3 courses each semester) at all levels of the Spanish and Latin American Studies curriculum. 

    Simpson College’s main campus is in Indianola, Iowa, part of the vibrant Des Moines metropolitan area, the fastest growing large metropolitan area in the Midwest. The Des Moines area’s population exceeds 600,000, and the area’s economic growth has outpaced that of the U.S. as a whole, while the cost of living remains well below the national average.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Ph.D. in Hispanic Literatures and Cultures or a related field; ABD considered. 
    • Native or near-native proficiency in Spanish and English.
    • Ability to teach beginning-advanced Spanish language skills through the exploration of dynamic cultural, social, or political topics.
    • Willingness to contribute to the college’s recruitment efforts, diversity and inclusion initiatives, and general education program.  

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience teaching Spanish in an inclusive way to a wide array of backgrounds and ability levels.
    • Expertise in content-based instruction and curriculum design.
    • Extensive knowledge of Latin America as well as Spanish-language sources on a variety of topics.
    • Experience teaching online language learning, intercultural communication, or heritage speaker programs.
    • Enthusiasm for mentoring undergraduate research and community outreach opportunities.

    Essex Community Schools has a full time Spanish position open for next year.  We are looking for a native speaker who has a four year college degree in anything!  We will help you get a license to be a teacher in Iowa.  The position we have is for elementary exploratory Spanish classes and high school Spanish I and II.  The high school classes range from 1 to 7 students.  Essex would be a great place to start your teaching career.  I can be reached on my cell phone at (712) 350-1065 or at the school (712) 379-3114.

    Des Moines Public Schools is adding Spanish teachers. Current needs in elementary, middle, and high school levels. There is a posting for the online Virtual Campus high school with DMPS. This requires physical office hours in Des Moines's Virtual Campus location, PLC attendance, and knowledge of DMPS curriula and pacing.

    February 21 Des Moines Public Schools is in immediate need for long term substitute Spanish teachers at a high school and middle school location. Both positions are eligible to turn full time Fall of 2020. The middle school position is 6th and 7th grade, using SOMOS curriculum.

    The high school Spanish position is Heritage Spanish and Spanish learners.

    I am looking for a qualified Spanish tutor to work as an independent contractor on a teaching assignment Des Moines, IA. The client is an adult man who would like for his Spanish classes to take place at his office in Des Moines.

    The student would like to take 2 lessons per week for 1.5 hours each lesson. He is available Monday through Friday. He is flexible regarding the time of classes, but mornings after 8:00 AM would be ideal.
