Iowa World
Language Association
Greetings from IWLA!

School's out for summer! Most teachers in Iowa have started their summer break, and we hope you have many plans to rest, relax, and recharge!

Whatever your summer plans, please keep in touch with IWLA. We are working to enhance our online presence, so follow us on Twitter or "like" us on Facebook. We are starting a Pinterest page, so you can participate in ideas sharing through that platform as well.

IWLA was well-represented at
Central States Conference on the Teaching of Foreign Languages, in Minneapolis, with approximately 75 attendees from our state. Also, two of our state's presentations were selected as "All-Star Sessions" and they were invited to present again next year in Ohio.

The IWLA Executive Board has been busy planning for the future and reaching out. Several members met with Dr. Brad Buck, Director of the Iowa Department of Education, to discuss World Language education in Iowa. Dr. Buck was very interested in the Seal of Biliteracy and in how we could bring that to Iowa.
